SEVILLA
Torre del Oro
The Torre del Oro was built in 1220 by the Almohads as part of the fortified Alcazar. It is quite noticeable, lying on near the river, and with a distinct 12-sided shape. It was connected to another small fort across the river by a chain, which the Christian troops broke in 1248. Today it contains a naval museum, mainly unrelated to Sevilla's Muslim past.
