The potters' quarter, just out of the city walls, is one of Safi's most definate attractions. As strange as it might seem, life here goes on as always, even with several tour groups stopping by every day. All around this area, chimneys formed like large beehive-kilns are found.
The man on the second photo is not making vases, he is making roof tiles. Off the "vase" he is making, the top is cut off, later it is cut in two parts, coloured and dried.
The third photo shows exactly what it looks like, vases for the domestic consumer market.
