Bandar-e Mahshahr

City in southwestern Iran with 125,000 inhabitants (2009 estimate), in Khuzestan province.
The economy of Bandar-e Mahshahr is largely focusing on exporting gas and refinery products from Abadan.
It is a city that has changed its name many times, first called Reyshahr, then Machuleh, changing to Mahrouyan, then Bandar-e Ma'shoor. Today it is often called simply Mahshahr.
The inhabitants are largely Persians, with an Arab minority
Bandar-e Mahshahr has two campuses of other universities, both with focus on engineering and in particular petroleum and petrochemical.
